Discussion of the Liguus fasciatus spp.
The fasciatus is widespread throughout the main Island of Cuba, the
offshore keys and Isla de Pinos (the largest offshore key / island south of Cuba).

Liguus fasciatus barroi Jaume 1952 -
Type locality: Hill east of Rio Almendares, Bosque de la Habana,
Habana Province, Cuba.
Holotype: Collection Jaume MBM No. 2,029.

Type locality: Monte Dios, Santa Lucia, north coast, Pinar del Rio Province, Cuba.
Holotype: Museum of Comparative Zoology MCZ 109,050
Paratype: Museum of Comparative Zoology MCZ 106,409 & MCZ 126,002
Description: Clench, 1935, The Nautilus 49:68, plate 3, fig 3.
Comment: Both the holotype (MCZ 109,050) and paratype (MCZ 106,409)
are pictured in Abbott's "Compendium of Landshells". The L.f. caribaeus shown
above are specimens from the collection at the Harvard Museum of
Comparative Zoology, part of the lot are ex-de la Torre collection. Special thanks to
MCZ (Harvard) and Mr. Adam J. Baldinger, Curatorial Associate of Malacology
at MCZ, for the loan of the specimens.
